Sharon Radisch at La Maison de la Chapelle

In Fall 2023, Sharon embarked on what could be described as a creative reset at La Maison de la Chapelle, a period she had meticulously prepared for with personal photographic series, written works, sketches, digital renderings, and paintings. Sharon is well-regarded for her photographic work, known for its clean aesthetic and muted color palette, covering fashion, still-life, travel, and interior design. Yet, the work she produced during her residency stood in stark contrast to her previous output, not just in subject matter but also in her approach and choice of mediums.

Her collaboration with Garen Barsegian was a deep dive into the ancient materials of Provence, searching for pieces from old structures that could be transformed into sculptural totems. At La Maison de la Chapelle, Sharon found herself in a phase of deep introspection, developing new skills, building references, and forming partnerships with both the materials she worked with and the local artisans who helped source these materials for her projects.

The residency allowed Sharon to explore multiple disciplines, creating sculptures that blended seamlessly with both the indoor and outdoor spaces of the residency, experimenting with painting and sculpture, studying lines and shapes using found materials, and planning design pieces like tables, chairs, and light fixtures for future production. Sharon’s time at La Maison de la Chapelle was a multidimensional journey, signaling a fresh direction in her career as an artist.
